Big Bad Cowboy – Review – laurainliteraryland

BOOK REVIEW | BIG, BAD COWBOY | by Carly Bloom

⁣⁣⁣⁣Big, Bad Cowboy is my first cowboy romance and if they’re all as sexy, fun, and overall delightful as this book then consider me a fan. 🙆🎉🤠⁣⁣⁣⁣

Travis Blake has returned to his hometown to care for his nephew and the family ranch, neither of which he knows much about. Short on money, he’s started taking lawn care jobs to make ends meet which puts him in the crossfires of the town’s resident landscape architect and garden center owner, Maggie Mackey. She’s territorial about her business and doesn’t take kindly to the idea of sharing work or customers with Travis. ⁣⁣

At a Halloween masquerade ball, Travis and Maggie meet (dressed serendipitously as the Big, Bad Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood) and experience instant sparks. Later, they end up working together and while Travis recognizes Maggie, she has no idea that she’s working alongside her Big, Bad Wolf. ⁣⁣

There were so many things about this unique Little Red Riding Hood retelling that just worked. Travis and Maggie have amazing chemistry and the tension between them is palpable. Their sexy night together at the Halloween masquerade ball is hot and steamy. There’s a charming cast of secondary characters that I’m betting we’ll get to know more of as the series continues (yay for that!). Travis’s nephew Henry brought unpredictability, humor, and genuinely sweet moments. And — I cannot write a review for this book without commenting on the hilarity of the town’s book club and later the seductive (although equally hilarious) scene where Travis gets ahold of Maggie’s copy of the group’s book. ⁣⁣⁣

I’m so glad I took a chance on this sub-genre and I’m excited to explore it further! Carly Bloom’s next book in the Once Upon A Time In Texas series releases next week and I’ve already got it pre-ordered. 👍
